Upload, organize, annotate, and manage field photos in Vortyk. With automatic GPS extraction, EXIF metadata, and batch upload.
Last updated: April 18, 2026
Photos are the primary content inside every survey. Vortyk extracts GPS coordinates, camera bearing, and EXIF metadata from each photo on upload, so you never need to enter location data by hand. JPEG, PNG, HEIC, and WebP are all supported.
Data hierarchy
You → Organization → Projects → Surveys → PhotosPhotos live inside surveys. Each survey holds up to 200 photos, and reports pull from a single survey at a time.
What Vortyk does with your photos
When you upload photos by drag-and-drop, Vortyk processes them in the background. GPS and metadata are parsed from EXIF on upload, giving you latitude, longitude, bearing, and capture timestamp without any manual entry. You can add captions up to 150 characters to give every photo context that shows up in your PDF reports. Photo validation flags any photo missing GPS data so nothing slips through before you build a report. When surveys grow large, gallery browsing handles infinite scroll across hundreds of photos without pagination friction.
