Photo Markups

Annotate field photos directly in the browser with drawing tools, arrows, text, and shapes. No separate software needed.

Last updated: April 18, 2026

Markup tools let you annotate photos directly in the browser. Circle a defect, arrow to a crack, label a measurement. Your client or team sees exactly what you see without guessing, and the annotations appear on photos in generated PDF reports.

How markup works

Open any photo in a survey and click the markup icon to enter the annotation editor. The drawing tools panel gives you six options: selection, line, arrow, rectangle, circle, and text. Colors and styling covers the five available colors, stroke width, fill, opacity, and font size. Power users should learn the keyboard shortcuts to switch tools with a single keypress and undo or redo with Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y. Every change saves automatically, so there is no save button to forget.

Where markup fits

Markup is especially useful for inspection reports (flagging defects, damage, or areas of concern), progress documentation (labeling completed work), and client communication (eliminating back-and-forth by making observations obvious on the photo itself). Markups appear in generated PDF reports and in client share-link views automatically.
